Trans month (November-December)

More info coming soon…

In the meantime, Goulburn Valley Pride would like to remind everyone that International Pronouns Day will be recognised on Wednesday 15 October.

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) explains why pronouns matter:

“Pronouns are small words that make a big difference to inclusion for LGBTIQA+ people, especially those who identify as trans, gender diverse, or non-binary. International Pronouns Day seeks to make respecting, sharing, and educating about personal pronouns commonplace. Referring to people by the pronouns they determine for themselves is basic to human dignity. Sometimes sharing pronouns can feel awkward or even intimidating – but by proactively sharing your own pronouns you can make a big difference to the inclusion of LGBTIQA+ communities.”

Adding pronouns to your social media bios or email signature can be a simple but powerful gesture of allyship to LGBTIQA+ colleagues, friends, and family members. International Pronouns Day is also about celebrating progress and continuing to build communities that respect and value people’s diverse identities. For those interested, cohealth has developed a short resource on inclusive language and pronouns: cohealth Pronouns Guide (PDF).
