As Australia’s not for profit LGBTIQA+ media organisation, JOY Media represents the people, stories, news, music, and lived experiences of Australia’s LGBTIQA+ community and our allies.
Powered by 200+ volunteers and led by a small leadership team, JOY’s content makers inform, empower, entertain audiences globally by delivering quality community media, every hour, every day of the year.
JOY is built on three key pillars – content, training and events. These are better known as JOY 94.9, JOY Academy and JOY Gigs.
Through each of these services and content offerings, we carry out our purpose of building a more inclusive Australia for all.
JOY do this by providing the opportunity for freedom of expression, the breaking down of isolation and the celebration of the culture, achievements and pride of the diverse rainbow community.
Growing from their inception as a Community Radio Station 3JOY in 1993, JOY Media now provides content across multiple platforms to enable the voices of our community to be accessible to people of all abilities and locations.
From JOY’s on-air presenters, to their support teams, producers, newsreaders, podcasters and everyone in-between JOY aims to represent our listeners because we are them.
You can hear and see stories from the LGBTIQA+ community and allies on JOY 94.9 Radio (FM and DAB+), online at joy.org.au via livestream, in JOY podcasts, YouTube channel and on social media.
In addition to creating groundbreaking content, JOY provide education, sponsorship messaging and production services to the broader community, all of which provide the essential funds to fulfil our community-based purpose. When you buy JOY’s services you help create a more inclusive world.
JOY proudly fund their work through donations, memberships, philanthropic funding and by providing income generating services to the community including advertising, live broadcasting, podcasting, educational training, audio visual services and talent provision.
