Statement from GV Pride re: logo

GV Pride wishes to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country on which we exist and support LGBTIQA+ people.

We recognise the history and pay our respects to the land, waters and culture of our region and the regions that surround us. We acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded and that the land always was and always will be, Aboriginal land.

Goulburn Valley Pride Inc. (GV Pride) is proud to be an organisation that exists to support, and advocate for, the LGBTIQA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender diverse, intersex, queer and asexual +) communities in the Goulburn Valley & surrounds.

As an organisation that has existed for fifteen years, we also recognise and embrace change as our community and society progresses forward to a more equitable, inclusive and accessible one for all.

It is with this growth and ongoing consultation that we wish to affirm that moving forward, our organisation is adding the black and the brown colours to our organisation’s logo and brand. The black represents our First Nations Australians, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and the brown recognises People of Colour. The colours sit at the top of the six-colour pride flag as a symbol of recognition and inclusion.

We acknowledge that this is one step of many that need to be taken to ensure our organisation is inclusive, safe and accessible for all our LGBTIQA+ community. We are committed to striving for inclusion for all.
